Australian Savate Federation Inc

Skills

Welcome to the skills -technical work shop. As a competitive sport, savate has a unique style unlike any other. Its syllabus is based on the ‘Charlemont’ method and provides an educative and efficient approach to kickboxing. Savate has been able to maintain its own unique characteristic’s due to the rules pertaining to the scoring of competition as prescribed by  the French and International federations and supported by affiliated member nations.

The judging of savate competition requires the scoring of each competitor be divided into a technical category, in which the proper execution of savate skills is scored, and a category for hits scored against each competitor. At the end of a bout both the technical and hitting scores are tallied to determine a winner. Due to this technical scoring the competitors skills must be delivered in accordance with the savate code.  A  ’sloppy’ round kick or a ‘bit’ of a front kick just won’t cut it in savate competition. The Australian Savate Federation home page provides this technical work shop in an effort to generate an interest in those unfamiliar with savate- kickboxing.

Please keep in mind that a true appreciation and understanding of savate requires one to  invest quality time and training under a qualified savate instructor. Good luck in your savate journey.
